Sandra Barnet will take you through the basics of making a simple plaster mould for sprigs to be applied onto pots, or for use as buttons, badges or even jewellery.
You will be able to make the mould home. Please bring with you an idea for a suitable design with a flat back about 5cm square and some modelling tools, and we will provide everything else needed for this "Hands On".
Robert Fournier, author of the Illustrated Dictionary of Practical Pottery defined a Sprig as "A bas-relief or medalion made in a small press mould and stuck with slip onto a pottery surface. Typified by the 10th-century sale glaze bellarmine masks and in the industry by Wedgewood's cameos. The craft potter can still devise new and entertaining uses for the sprig."
Places are limited to 10 for the "Hands On". Please complete the form below.
Location: St Marks Church Hall, Corner of Potters Road and Woodville Road, Barnet, EN55HY
